About this work
A new lawn starts under the grass. We rough grade so water runs away from the house, spread screened loam to depth, fine grade it smooth and seed it. New-construction yards, torn-up yards after septic or pool work, and lawns that never took are the usual jobs.
For a lawn that is thin, lumpy or bare in patches, we level and repair the trouble spots, then core aerate, overseed and topdress with compost so the new seed has something to grow in. Fall is the best window for all of it.

Questions people ask
How long until a new lawn is ready to use?
Seed shows in a week or two with water, fills in over a season, and is ready for normal use after a few mowings. We will give you a watering schedule for the first weeks.
Seed or sod?
Seed is what we usually recommend around here: it costs less, roots deeper and matches the neighborhood grasses. Sod makes sense when you need green now. We will quote whichever you prefer.
What is compost topdressing?
A thin layer of screened compost spread over the lawn after aeration and seeding. It feeds the soil, holds moisture around the seed and evens out small dips.
